I was LOL when I got your text about the Barbie pole. Too bad you didn't literally hook that legal on a "Barbie" rod. It just goes to show that nobody needs any fancy shmancy equipment to catch quality fish in the surf. WTG commander and congrats on winning your bet with Phuong. Did he not learn from the first Superman challenge?!

Oh, and you blew Mike's theory out of the water by leading the pack and still catching some quality fish! So is it best to lead or follow? Hmmmm

I saw Phuong at the shop this morning, he's not a happy camper.
Congrats on the insane catch and winning the bet. Happy birthday again my friend and hope you had a nice Easter.

Arthur... fishing that AO with the barbie rod and actually landing the fish is unbelievable! I can't count the number of times I've been kelped/rocked by a fish in that area! Still, you showed everybody that you don't need top of the line equipment whatsoever to stick legals. I have a feeling Phuong will think a bit more carefully before your next bet!

    Way to go Commander!

Congratulations on winning yet another one of your friendly bets.
I remember talking to you one time about catching a legal halibut from the surf with a barbie doll pole. I thought it would've been an awesome challenge but I didn't expect someone to actually do it LOL. But then again... you are the commander of SWAT and no one expects anything less. I think the next challenge should involve using your left and a pole and reel that you personally crafted, using bamboo perhaps??? HAHAHA ... Think about it

I on the other hand am still on the quest for my trophy fish Hopefully the ghosts start rolling up on to our beaches soon.
Great report. Can't wait till the next one.

That was a great read, I was laughing the whole time.
Binh told me about the bet and I immediately thought that you could do it, but not so damn fast.
    Amazing, simply amazing Commander.
