Went to DVL Saturday with a couple other boats for a friendly Striper "tournament". Scored early on a Sexy Swimmer thrown into busting shad. Followed the ducks and terns for a while but birds only after the morning rush. High hopes of striper limits turned into a tough bite for all of us. Scored another striper on an underspin around noon in the outhouse cove. Kept following the ducks and terns with the mindset that if there is bait, then there are predators. Both fish were around 4 pounds. I forgot how hard those fish pull. I definitely have the bug now to get into the bigger models. Threw BBZ, Hud's, and smaller stuff all day. No sign of trout and the shad looked to be very small so small baits might be better match of the hatch for now.
One of the other boats (you know who you are) couldn't get the stripers to go so they pulled out the texas rig worms around 2:00 and pulled in 3 quality LMB up tight to the bank in the last 30 minutes. Looks lilke that bite is still there if you want it, especially in the afternoon as things warm up.
