I had an absolute blast on Sunday Arthur. That was the best day of freshwater fishing that I ever had. Got my first ever top water fish and learn how to troll too. Very cool of you to hand off some of your top water fish for me to fight, much appreciated my friend.
Thanks for a memorable day on the water bro and lets do it again soon.

Damn it I should have had the video rolling for some LIVE ACTION shots.
Haven't been in a good topwater Striper bite in a couple of years. Forgot how much fun it was.
Arthur and Sokha, that was great and we'll do it again soon.

    Here ya go...

    Restaurant-style Asian Steamed Fish Dish.
    Ingredients:
1 live fish (about 2.0 lb or less)
2 inches ginger (peeled and cut into thin strips)
1 stalk scallion (cut into 2-inch length, and then cut into thin silken threads)
    Some cilantro leaves
    2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 tablespoon shaoxing wine or rice wine

    Steamed Fish Soy Sauce Mixture:
    4 tablespoons light soy sauce
2 tablespoons shaoxing wine or rice wine
    2 tablespoons water
    1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
    3 dashes white pepper powder
2 tablespoons rock sugar (grind into powder form) or to taste.

    Method:
Clean the fish properly (remove scales, guts, gills, etc.) and pat dry. Blend the soy sauce mixture in a small bowl and set aside.
Lay the fish on a plate and drizzle 1 tablespoon shaoxing (or rice) wine on top of the fish. Top the fish with 1/2 of the cut ginger strips.
Heat up a wok with enough water for steaming. Wait for the water to boil. As soon as it boils, place your fish inside the wok, propped up with a small inverted bowl or a couple of wooden blocks (meant for steaming). Cover your wok tightly and set your kitchen alarm for 8 minutes.
As soon as the fish is done steaming, transfer it out from the wok. Discard the fish water and ginger strips. Lay the remaining ginger strips on top of the fish.
Heat up a pan over high heat and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil, swirl around until it’s hot. Pour the hot oil over the steamed fish. Put the pan back onto the stove, add the soy sauce mixture and stir well. As soon as the sauce bubbles up and boils, pour the soy sauce over the fish. Topped with scallions and cilantro leaves and serve the steamed fish immediately with white rice.

    and the clam recipe too!
Thanks Don, the action was fast & furious at times.

Here's the stir fried Clams recipe.

    • With a little oil, saute ginger, garlic and chilli
    • add clams, stir, add soy sauce, oyster sauce and vinegar cover for 3 minutes, stir
    • add salt and pepper, keep stirring until most of the clams open,
    • add basil, stir, turn off heat
    • serve
    • PS: it is important not to over cook the clams

Okay, okay, now for the fish report.........

I've got to say I really enjoyed the fact you Binh and Sokha took the Team Trolltoon motto of go where everyone else isn't and make the best of it. The gamble paid off and it looks like you guys had a great time on the assault Vessel once again.

I had to look at the text twice when you gave me the fish report for the day then I had to question my decision to stay home and mow the lawn.

Great job out there guys and keep the fish coming on board!

    Lucky? Don't I know it...
I'm glad that we went in the other direction too... "To get nowhere, follow the crowd."
Congrats on winning the Team 57 Catfish Co-op event on Saturday my friend!

TB, we have two Pugs... the one you've been seeing on my reports for the past 6-7 years is Wingnut Pug. That's the chubby one. She is getting quite old, just turned twelve.
The one you see in the pic belongs to the Iron Chef, that one is 6 years old.
Trust me, I need a regular work out, more than the Pugs, lol

Yeah, haven't seen you out in the salt for quite some time too Gary.
That was my first freshwater trip in over a year. I'm thinking about taking a Lake San Antonio trip soon to see what's shakin' up there.
The Mako is a birthday gift from the Iron Chef.

Yeah, Sokha was killing them with your chartreuse back Sammy Phuong. He caught so many, some of the barbs on the trebles broke off and most were totally bent.
I remember that boil at Castaic, it was right next to Kong Island. That's was pretty intense!
