    Default Gill Report 8/4

Fished Perris Saturday for some and Gills. Arrived about 6 a.m. with my son and launch quickly. Went over to my LMB spot and got no luv from the big ones. We then moved over to the east side of the lake and fish for gills. For the last few weeks the fish has been in this one area but they where on the move today so we had to find them. I noticed that the fish where out deeper than last time and chasing bait ball. That is what I was seeing on the fish finder. Anyway, we started with the micro crank baits and it was on! My son was using a small Yozuri Gobi Crank bait) which I only have one. They don’t make it anymore. Wish they did because it works great! So he was catching the fish with a ratio of 4 to my 1.
Here was some of his gills.

He was catching everything today on the same bait. Also a 4lbs bass and these too! Lol!

Some girls shorts. At least it wasn’t a boot!

Nice! It's always fun to catch Bluegill on lures. Try a small Kastmaster and a silver Mepps.

Yea fishmounter, the strikes are really strong and the gills fight real good. I usually get them suspended in 20ft water on light line. I will try the kastmaster next time.

Great report! Nice to see another Yo-Zuri microlure fan. I have an extra green Goby one, bought a large pack of 'em on eBay a while back, pm me if you would like to buy it (sorry for threadjack).

Arrive real early! I usually fish the island in the deeper water areas working my baits just outside of the weedbeds on the north side. Leadhead jigs and crankbaits are always good for the fish that are up off of the bottom suspending. That is if you are going on a boat and gills are your target fish. But you can catch bass in the mix. Maybe someone else will give you a tip on the shoreline info.
