It's about time that I posted instead of lurking, LOL. I packed the tube into Chamise from Vist Pt and got to fishing at 4:30pm. The weather was cloudy with a storm possibly in the making, a perfect striper day. The summer crowd was in full swing (no shocker) with the jet skis and wake boats motoring about. Lucky for me everyone on the water was cool and kept their distance although I do need to get a flag. I worked the cove for awhile along the weedline and then decided to kick out just short of open water. No love for over an hour and then the bite started on the 8-10" micros. I had plenty of short bites and missed strikes with fish caught in-between. It was getting dark, the crowd was gone and I started my way back. I spotted a great blue heron hunting for silversides. Damn, I thought if only I had the patience of that bird! This time I trolled into deeper territory stripping off line until I was almost to my backing. I wound up with 2 schoolies in the 18" range and a farm by the time I got to shore. I wanted to stay longer but I knew that I had bettter get home and keep the wife happy. Rod-9wt-yes overkill but you never know with striper. Line-350grain shooting head integrated to an intermediate. Flies-sz 4 lt green over white, sz 3/0 rainbow over white. Note-fish caught in the 15 to approx 50ft range. Sorry, no pics camera is broken. I need to tie up some black streamers for night time!! Fish on.
