    Default Bajapaddyhopper Bite-Fest!! 6/30 w-pics

Took my little aluminum 15ft Duroboat “Red Drum” out for a morning fishing trip with Sherman aka “bajapaddyhopper”, in the Santa Monica Bay.

Sherm wanted to try some crank baits, so I took him to some shallow spots, and he immediately got a hook-up on a nice Calico Bass.

After seeing Sherm get a quick hook-up, I asked him if I could try one of his crankies. Sherm obliged, and two casts later, I hook a scrappy Lattice Bass on the crankster…sweeet! Thanks for letting me borrow your crank bait Sherm!

Then Sherm hooks a big Bully Bass. Way to go Sherm!!

Then we went out to deeper water and fished the swim baits.

Sherm with a nice Cloud Bass.

Mr. Checkerboard was “cajoled” into chewing my Basstrix swim bait with a VS jig head.

Mr. Sandoval was “suckered” into slurping down my Basstrix swim bait.

Mr. Gold Nose was “gullible” into gulping down my Basstrix swimbait…sweeeet!

Mr. Kelp Bass was “bamboozled” into biting my “Basstrix” swimbait.

After the Bass bite slowed down, we Critter fished for a couple hours.

Sherm with a nice California Sheephead.

    Vinnie with an 8lb Wrassie.

Last but not least, a traveling Triggerfish.

Had a super-fantastic fishing trip with Sherm, who is a great, enthusiastic and "fun to fish with" fisherman. Can’t wait to get back out there again. HOOK-UP!!

    Till next tide,

    Vince

Very cool Crankbait fish! ....If you don't mind answering my question " how deep is shallow for the crankbaits you are throwing.... I know those dive up to 20 to 25 ft max..... are the bass eating the cranks suspended or chewing on the crankbaits after they ricochet off the rocks and reefs?" Thanks and way to slay them again!

Man that was some day! Seems like a spring report more than a early fall report,I always wondered about cranks on Calicos, whats the deepest you think your running them? Also have wondered about them on a down-rigger trolled over a reef ect..anyways way to go guys, great photos, thanks.
