DVL/where to get fresh sardines? are they biting at the bouy line?

planning on going july 4th or 5th. where do you find fresh dines? I called the marina and all they have is frozen. also are they biting at the bouy line. This will be my first trip to DVL ever, and probably only gonna be able to fish half the day. probably gonna rent a boat because I dont want to drag mine all the way down there. will be cheaper to rent. dont know if they have any fishfinders on any of the rentals. hoping to have a good outing and make another trip after that if i do well. taking my air force buddy and want him to have a great time. you can PM me if you have any tips.

Fed a Pelican some live sardines monday coming in from halibut drifting.
Had about 20 baits leftover. San Pedro bait had some nice dines.
I bet if you went to SP or Davies launch ramp and hang out.
I bet you could get some from a PBer.
