late memorial day palos verdes report
sorry, late report havent been on in awhile, we went to palos verdes and fished the kelp. We couldnt have picked a better day, the weather was clear and perfect and the water was glass. Fished the kelp and caught calicos, skulpin and what we think is a black rockfish. I caught my calicos on white split tail jig, they were hitting on the drop. Also lots of dolphins swimming all around us and under us, also seen a few whales.

That's a grass rockfish, and a nice one at that. grass rockfish are found in shallower areas. Black rockfish are rare in socal, and more common up north.
Looks like a fun day! Gotta love those scampi grubs!
