    Default Does anyone remember when Perris was a world class spotted bass fishery?

    I remember back in the early 80"s, we use to catch trophy class spots (all of which were released). Haven't seen a spot in years, all the areas that I use to fish spots are high and dry now.

    those were great fish..... footballs ...... they could really burrow ..... hard fighters ......

    it still is a world class fishery for largemouth the spots have been gone for over 15 years it was a cycle the largemouth took over they thrive in the warmer water temps

    I think it was 1980 when we were waterskiing and we decided to try fishing while we ate some lunch, my buddy threw out the only lure that we had on the boat it was a rootbeer colored twin tail skampi on a lead head, 5 minutes later he hooked up and to our surprise it was a fat bass . He took it to bait shop , it ended up being a 6 lb bama spotted bass. They took a picture and it ended up being in the Whittier Daily newspaper with a little write up
