    Default Out of State Boating

    Has anyone ever taken their boat outside the state of California? I am renting a houseboat on Lake Powell this summer and I would like to take my bass boat with me, do I need to register my boat in Utah? Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated.

    I have taken my boat to AZ. No problems. make sure to get a fishing license. I think they equate it to taking your car in the state for a short time period.

    Most states will give you no grief, as long as you have valid CF's, and a current home state registration. Some lakes require a safety inspection, and pay for a permit. The CF # system provides for interstate use, but individual areas or lakes have some other requirements. For example, Lake Isabella requires an inspection and a permit.     no utah boat registration req. for ca boaters with current ca registration.
