Got back early yesterday morning from the river. It was a great trip with everyone catching some fish. The participants this year was my 3 brothers, my nephew (5 years old), and my 2 sons (18 and 5).

Wednesday (first day) - The plan for this morning was to stay close to Fisher's landing and fish there and Ferguson lake. So we hit the tullies line and docks on the area throwing buzz frogs. After missing a few with the skunk in force, we decided to go to Ferguson and fish the points. My brother, sons and I were in my boat throwing frogs, jigs and flukes here while my other two brothers and nephew in the other boat were throwing jerkbaits and dropshots. We fished for a couple of hours with one fish caught on a jerkbait weighing 1 1/2lbs. Decision was time for breakfast so we head back in. Water temps were 65-66 degrees. In the afternoon we all decided to go the sandbar and let the kids play in the water before going out and banging the banks. We decided to go fish Imperial Reservoir area. Water temps 67 degrees caught a few throwing soft jerkbaits here. We ended up catching 10 fish or so for the day between all of us.

Thursday - Decision was to make our way north and fish Island lake. The wind was out in full force creating white caps on the main river. We get to the area around 8:30ish after eating breakfast first. The wind was too much to fish the jerkbait so I had a pole with a spinnerbait on was fishing that. My brothers boat landed the first fish with a frog colored spinnerbait and was the ticket for this day. I did get 4 on the "fluke" fishing area blocked from the wind. My older son caught one on a senko and my brother got on on a jig. Decision was made to go find an area near Picacho to have lunch. We went into a couple of backwater areas and could not find a spot. We headed back to camp stopping at a lake just southwest of Pichacho where my youngest son caught one on a black and pink berkley powerworm. In this area we had a triple hookup but only two was landed.

Friday - Decision was to go to Martinez and fish the tullies by the sheriffs station. started to throw walking baits and frogs for nothing in this area. So after awhile we headed to the western part of Martinez where the fish were pounding our soft frogs. I lost 2 due to tension not set correct. Had 10 blowups with no fish and my brother hand 8 or so on his, while the other boat landed 4. Headed back to camp at ten for breakfast and to have a horsehoe tournament. In the afternoon we headed back to the three lake system but only caught a couple. So my brother and I changed plans and headed across to the east side of the river and found a secluded backwater lake where we ended the day with a really good topwater session. Total count caught was 10 in the session on walking baits and hollow frogs. Missed twice as many.

Saturday (last Day) - Plan was to go back to Martinez and continue the frog fishing from the morning before. However there was some wind making it difficult for the topwater action. Only got three blowups but got one on the fluke. My other brothers packed up in the morning and headed back home in the morning. I only fished till 8 this morning to go help out and get myself packed fro the trip back home. I decided we were staying the whole day and try to get the evening topwater bite again. So we went swimming and catching a few on flukes, jigs and hollow body frogs. In the evening we went back to the spot but the fish were not as active from the night before. I only landed 1 fish with only three blowups. We headed back in just past sunset and started our 4 1/2 hour drive back at 8:30. We didn't get back home until 2:30am after making several stops.

Water temps the whole week range from 63-67 degrees. We did see a couple of fish on beds and cruisers and some fry swimming through the bushes.

I will post pics later tonight. Thanks for reading.
