Obama Outspends Republican Campaigns by Millions

With Republicans locked in a contentious and expensive primary, President Barack Obama has spent a small fortune to build and maintain a campaign operation that's larger, more diverse and more focused on the general election than any of his opponents' organizations.

Republican contenders like Mitt Romney have had to watch their expenses during the primary campaign.

But Obama faces no serious challenger for the Democratic nomination. He has sunk his cash into an expansive brick-and-mortar operation with offices in nearly every state.

An Associated Press analysis of Federal Election Commission records shows that Obama's campaign has spent more than $135 million on operations through February. That's about $3 million more than all his GOP challengers combined.

Obama's paid staff exceeds 500, and many work in the campaign's Chicago headquarters.

i know exactly how the electoral college system works and why it was put into use in the first place. but my point was that the general population the majority did not want bush as president.

I bet you would be screaming and pissed if the results were flipped what if bush one the popular vote and gore took the electoral college and became president i bet you wouldn't think its right or at least make you wonder what your vote really is worth.

the mudslide im referring to is the the national unemployment rate which was 4.2 when bush took office 5.8 when he turned it over and that 5.8 is the avrage for the year and from july of 2008 to to the end of the year the monthly avrage was all over 6.0 and in December it had reached 7.1

so if that isnt worthy of being called a mudslide i dont know what is. the unemployment rate was on the way up and up fast before Obama took over

as it is right now the rate is 8.7 which is only 1.6 higher then what Obama took over at compared to the 2.9 that bush let it slip.

The unemployment rate was4.6%

Thank you demorats for taking us from a nearly 13,000 DOW, a 3.5% GDP, and a 4.6% unemployment rate to this crisis by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION $$$ of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac! And BTW, Bush asked congress no less than 17 times to stop Fannie and Freddie, one of many speeches including McCain's, are on you tube, because it was financially risky for the US economy. Gee, ya think?

And who took the 3rd highest payoff from Fannie and Freddie?

OBAMA!!

And who fought reforming Fannie and Freddie?

REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007, the day the SOCIALISTS took over congress.

Explain to me how Bush "let it slip"???? The average unemployment % during the Bush years was right around 5%. It did not hit 7% until just shy of 2 months prior to the Obama administration taking over, and 2 full years AFTER the democrats took over congress. You say the % is 8.7%? I digress, it depends on who you are getting your information from. The real national unemployment % is actually around 12-15%, not counting the under-employed, and those who have multiple meaningless jobs to make ends meet. Obama said it would not exceed 8%, what happened?

With a national voter ID law in place, Gore never would have come as close as he did. Thankfully he lost in spite of all the voter irregularities...
