My very first setup was a cane pole and nothing more than line and a hook... I had an awesome fishing book that showed how to make one.

My first actual reel, like most people was a Zebco, back when they didnt break after the third cast.

I remember my zebco broke down pretty fast.

Could be wrong on the model number but it was Zebco 33 early 1970's, remember some of us aren't as young as others and some are older than us as well.

My first rod set up was a black Abu Garcia spinning Reel and a ugly stick. I have had it since the late 70's. I still use it to fish for trout and panfish. The rod never broke even when I used to bushwack a trail through brush at Silverwood back in the day. When my kids were young I would let them use it and beat the he-- out of it. I remember the Bass and Crappie bite was off the hook back during that time at that lake.
