Any fall trolling tips for Bridgeport Reservoir?
I fished Bridgeport reservoir in mid September, did great with nightcrawlers just outside of the weeds. 10 fish, 2#+ in 1-1/2 hours.
Looking to go up again in mid October and looking for trolling tips for targeting fall time browns.
The weeds should be dieing off and heard the best trolling is near the dam in deeper water, 20ft-30ft in that part of the lake.
I'm planning to use 1/4 oz keel weight with a medium sized Rapala in gold/black using 10lb test and making S turns with the boat. Any other tips or techniques to try?
Thanks!

Pending on the light conditions, you might want to also carry a few other colored Rapalas, like a Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, and Fire Tiger. I've had good luck just flat lining Countdown Rapalas, the sinking/diving ones. The more sunlight there is when fishing, use the more natural colored and the brightest colored ones for low light conditions. My biggest brown from Bridgeport Res. in the fall is a 7.5 lber on a Countdown 7 Rainbow Trout Rapala.
Good Luck !

I'd try Buckeye Bay. Also, there's a channel that runs from the dam towards the marina that usually holds some fish along its edge.

Ill be headed up in a week to see if the browns are moving. Plan to make a couple trips tell it closes. There's lots of great things to toss at em. Lucky craft pointer minnows work great, trophy sticks, ac plugs (if you can dind the),floating rapalas, I v caught a few browns but nothing big ...yet... im gonna be hunting them hard this year!

I'm going up Oct 15-17 and renting a boat from the Marina. Are you going to be there then?

Possibly I don't have the days set yet but ill be up there a few more times. Will u be trolling colors or toplining

Toplining in the morning, then bait.

Okay ...I usually like a setback of atleast a 100 feet while toplining I use 15 pound power pro as my main line and tie about a 50ft leader of 10 or 12 pound floro. Those lakes up there hold huge brown trout so better on the safe side some lures and plugs cost alot and losing them isn't fun! What kind of rod and reel will u be using

GLoomis SJR 720, Sienna 1000 reel, 8# Iror xxx. Not the ideal set up for trolling, but it's what I have.

I'll be up there the 14th-16th and then again the 20-23 with my boat . The first trip will be shore or tube fishing. I have done well on count downs and husky jerks in rainnbow, brown and gold. This year I have some new custom plugs and swimbaits that I plan on trying. I have read alot about the dam being good. This will be my first year trolling from a boat since we finally saved enough to buy one. Good luck out there.
