We left garden Grove at 7:20 am with a packed Excursion. This is only half full…

We drove straight thru to Vegas. We picked up some diesel, then while doing 70 through the tail end of the Virgin River Canyon, Eagle eye Mark yells, “GOAT!” I pulled over on a very wide shoulder and we saw these three bighorn sheep across the river ravine. In all pics, the sheep have white butts and are in the center of the frame. (sorry they are so small.)

We watched them traverse the cliffs and beach for 20 minutes in the 99 degree heat. It was a cool sight to see them in their natural environment. Cars were zipping by in droves, oblivious as to why we were standing out there taking pics.

Further down the road I spotted our first elk. Two females, and two youngsters were grazing a few hundred yards off the road. No pics at 80mph!
We came to what appeared to be some nasty rain up ahead.

The rain came down in droves and the wind buffeted the truck from many directions. At one point, we were racing tumble weeds blowing down the road with us at around 60 mph! The storm was bizarre as we went in and out of it through 3 hours of driving North thru central Utah.
