Got a call from Mitch “fishrdie”, who I haven’t fished with in quite some time. Mitch said he finally got settled down in his new home and could really use a good “bendo” session on the “Red Drum”. He didn’t have to twist arm at all to do an early morning trip in the Santa Monica Bay.

We also had Jason “jscrib” join us for a reunion fishing trip. We met at the launch ramp around 6:00am and by 6:30am we were locked-on to a bunch of quality Sand Bass.

    Mitch with a nice Sandie.

Vinnie with a nice Cloudy that ate a 6inch Basstrix swim bait.

After we spent about an hour pulling on Sand Bass we decided to get some “the looper” inspired Rockies. The rockfish were in a major chew and they were mostly all really good quality fish…sweet!

Jason’s first cod drop…a beautiful fat Brown Rockfish.

My first cod drop produced another nice Sand Bass.

Jason’s next drop produces a whopping 6lb Brownie…that is Jason’s personal best for that species…wtg Scribby!!

Here I am with a nice Brown Rockfish.

    And a quality Copper Rockfish.

After pulling on the Rockies we went and fished some shallower water for critters and Mitch caught a Finescale Triggerfish and about a 20lb Black Sea Bass that ate a fresh dead mackerel.

    Sheephead.

    Ocean Whitefish

    Mitch and an Opaleye.
