    Default Santa Monica Beach This Friday Need Help

    Do You know were the fish are biting right now at Santa Monica. (Tide, Bait, Wind, Sinker Ounce?) Also any good spots for Halibut?

    Check out the Grunion Run.
    SM has halibut. Most So Cal beaches has halibut.
    Most the halibut guys here toss LC's but you can toss Krocs or Kastmasters too.
    Best bait is live smelt. You can catch them on the pier with a sabiki rig Use bread for chum. Put 6 - 8 in a 5 gal bucket Then take them to your surf spot. With bait I like a higher tide over a low tide.
    Also a mackeral fillet or squid or anchovy tossed way out can produce sharks or rays or ?

    The weights depend on rod/reel lenghts, pound test. 2 oz pyramid or clawfoot for long casting bait.
    Bring a light trout or bass type set up for fishing inside with sandcrabs or Gulp Camo Sandworms, lures.

    Thanks! You've been really helpful. Caught 6 surf perch all ready. Still waiting for the halibut though. All released
