Thread: Lagoon Wed & Wed

  1. #1

    Default Lagoon Wed & Wed

Hit the lagoon for a little exploratory visit on Wed 6/29 and wed 7-6

    Landed 3 on the 1st outing and 2 on the 2nd outing…..

Fishing was tough…..locating the fish was not an easy task….

    Pounded the shoreline at night…

Of the 5 fish landed 2 were on dropshot and the others were on senko…

1st outing fiash all came from isolated hydrilla beds

2nd outings fish all came from grass beds..

Seems were in the time where the oxygen created from this vegetation is key to the fish’s patterns….

From what I see of the lake, it’s really in an entirely different biocycle than I’ve seen in previous years…..obviously due to the months of fresh cold water coming in then all of the sudden stopping…

    My specualations…..

Anyways…fish are there to be had but fish it hard….

Nothing extremely huge but all fish were solid and yoked for their size……

Definitely millions of micro baitfish present, you can see them everywhere in the lake…

    Last wed:

    This wed:

    Didn’t photo the 2nd unit….camera died

    Good luck out there..

    Hey Gary,
Taking a break from Mr. Stripee???
I noticed you mentioned about the influx of cold water stopping, have they finally shut off the water from the upper lake? Last time I was there was for the Float Tube Derby last month (6/11) and it was flowing. Spillway release seemed longer than in past years (seems to have kept the water temps down).
    btw; nice feeeshies.

I rarely smile while taking a catch photo…just the way I am

Funny, someone once took a photo of me battling a hog….I had a huge ear to ear grin so I guess all the smiling happens while the catch is happening…once the catch is landed it’s all done : )

    As for looking crazy…

You must not have seen my serial killer days….

Better just leave it be….or I might go back to this look !

    LMAO !

Ayyyy yes young Carpbait…there is indeed a time and place for a stitched crawler..

The serious hawg hunter would not be so blind or stubborn not to overlook the right time and place for crawlers !
    (stitched of course !)

    Let’s see….hmnnnn…

Landed over 50 LMB over 10 lbs at the lagoon alone…

Hmn…..maybe about 45% on stitched crawlers….the other 55% on plastics dropshotted or flylined….

    Hmnnn…let me think some more..

Is a crawler worth it ?????

Hmmmmmn do I know how to fish plastics ????

Hmnnnnnnn does someone commenting on crawlers have a double digit LMB to show ? crawlers or otherwise?

    Hmnnnnn……let’s just take a rough ratio….

A stitched crawler has produced (not that good at ratios so this is an estimate)
OVER 22.5 LMB over 10 lbs for me….

Over 27.5 DD hawgs caught on plastics….does it make a difference to me ? NOT REALLY…

That 4 lb 8 oz hawg that you deem ur personal best wouldn’t even warrant a cell phone pic in my world..

So step off my young bako bretheren…

    LMAO !

Ohhh carpbaiter……look for my trademark fish carcass on a pigstick on ur front lawn soon…….

    Ahhhhhhh Ha ha ha ha…!

    try again !

    At a real fish….

    ROFL !

    DON’T FORGET A LIVE CRAWDAD TOO !

    Or

    SHAD !

    COME ON Mike !

Get one at least over EIGHT !

    Yeeee-haw

    Tag….UR IT !

right on man way to stick em out there! As for using crawlers for bait. Any REAL trophy bass hunter will tell you that theres a time and place when the double dees only want crawlers, crawdads, etc. Just because you use those doesnt mean you dont know what your doing. If you wanna be a true trophy hunter you gotta realize that giant double digit bass arent always gonna commit to a artificial. garys already got it down :) my pb's actually on a crawler when i was a kid. almost 13 pounds and ive caught plenty more double deez on artificials. keep stickn those pigs man!
