Kicked it off to the right some and smoothed out the threads.
Here comes the epoxy.
Then I'll work on test casting and blank flex testing the other guides tonight.

Got the spiral done! I have two or three more guides left to install.
since it's such a short rod, there is only 2.5' max after the spiral guides.
I might end up actually using all the guides anyways. If anything just one less guide than normal.
Still need to go outside and test it when it's dry for the last guide placement. I laid the last coat of thread finish at like 1:30am. Should be dry soon.
Rod Porn
nice job bro, looks like 3 more guides and your all set.
+1
ALL of my baitcasting rods are spiral wrapped.(Down Wrapped) I get wierd questions about it from time to time but it allows fewer guides which results in a lighter rod PLUS it brings out the full potential in the blank. It also allows smoother casting as the line can follow a more natural path... Performance Tackle tied every one of them and they know what they are doing.

Think I might just go with two!
Since the line on the bottom, no reason not to!
Those first four are spaced too close so it's misleading! they are four inches apart and all within 12".
the rest should be further apart and they say you use less guides. I guess from what they say I can get away with 2!?
It sure looks like I need three in that picture but when I string it up it looks like I can use two! I'm not sure either man it's my first spiral wrap and I don't have another one to look at.
If I get a fat bendo with 2 guides in there it will look like a zebco. lol.
If I use 3 I think I might defeat some of the easier casting the spiral wrap can offer.
I have all day to think about it. Can't work on the rod today.

Whats wrong with Zebco??? J/K LOL
Yeah I saw another rod down at C&M today.
I'm gonna go with all 3 guides.
The rod will end up with as many guides as the data sheet originally suggested despite the spiral wrap.
I don't think casting will be much improved, but I could be wrong.
I'm gonna go play around with that right now.
Also I already see how I could have angled the bumpers slightly different for possibly better results but it's not major. Still looks and works really cool. Almost done!
LOL You think people on shore will give you weird looks? Try party boats LOL.
I get, "Hey man, is that a 2-Piece rod?" as he chuckles to his friend, all the time.
All my rods are spiraled. Anything from a light Phenix 700M for DS and crack shrimp,
to a GUSA Monster Mag for brute tunies. I prefer revolver spiral myself.
