    Default Newport Pier 6/18 8pm to 1am

After a rough day of projects I needed some p.m. chill time. Waited until my daughter went to sleep and headed out to Newport Pier. No real goal in mind just some relaxing and fishing. I was already loaded up on macks for any catfish trips to come so I was going to fish for anything but those. Arrived at 8 p.m. and it was fairly windy and not very crowded (unless you went to the end). I decided to stick to the shallows and surf line. 1 rod baited with squid and the other I was throwing a krocodle. The bait rod scored me 3 thornback rays, 1 small bat ray, and a very short hali. The kroc was good for 3 bsp average 8-10" and a short 2' leopard shark. Nothing overly special but still a good time relaxing. The grunion were storming the beach in full force this night also. All fish C & R. Sorry no pics, I seem to have missplaced my camera.
