Did a evening trip with Dennis . We went looking for the barracuda that seem to disappear from the SMB a few days ago. We also went to do a early summer check of the sandy / hard bottom to see if migratory sand bass has moved into the area. We went just outside the breakwater and metered plenty of mini-schools of scooters. Put out the rapala to make sure it is the right kind and it was game on from there. After we got tired of the cudas, Dennis wanted some real table fare. I took him to the "out front" rocky bottom for some chuckleheads. Went back in to check the usual summertime bass hideout and found some WFO white belly migratory bass. I guess summer is here. Pictures:
Fat cuda on the troll.
If you still want to pillage the cudas, they are at the yellow markers in the evenings. Sailboats are not going to be your friend.
Dennis and his stupid matching gloves.
I refused to take anymore pictures of Dennis because everytime he want hold up a cuda he had to put on those gloves.
All cuda'd out. Went to the out front rocks to do some chuckleheading. Try and triangulate this rockpile.
Not so decent amount of these guys here anymore.
Here is one of the first sand bass we got of the night. Nice white belly one. I was pretty sure right after the cuda arrived the migratory bass would be here. I went looking and found a nice batch of them out in the open.
Here is an extra long skinny sand bass. He must of travelled very far just to party in the SMB.
Lots of nice ones.
They kept coming and coming.
Dennis ended his night with the biggest sand bass I ever seen.
Thats it. My evening outing went well. See you all next time.
