    Default Kokanee on New Melones

    It's June and time to fish the foothill lakes here in Kalifornistan! The reports from New Melones, a reservoir in the foothills of the Golden Sierras about 40 miles east of Stockton have been very good. Guys have been catching limits (of five per) in just an hour or so, and I figured I could even catch a couple if things were that good. I fished this past Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

    Before I got into the weeds (a terrible mess) that have accumulated during this big runoff, and the new kicker proved to be too fast, I boated three of those beautiful little kokanee. Photos and more story at my website if you're interested.
