Thread: Bako - weathers foul.....let's go fishing : )

    Default Bako - weathers foul.....let's go fishing : )

Another bako run was in order..
My pal Mikey joined me seeking his stripey revenge…

    “Murder..Death…Kill !”

Foul weather was afoot…we knew it already but went anyways.

High winds greeted us followed by a thick mist that eventually turned to a real heavy drizzle that bordered on rain….enough to get everything wet and get things muddy…

Made quick time of making the fish know our presence as Mikey hooked up 1st cast but lost it : (

I followed suit on my 3rd cast and let ‘em hit the asphalt !

    Bendo !

    Deep attack !

    On the usual arsenal…

My #1 owner stinger hooks penetrated DEEP and that fish had no chance against my monster charged jaw wrenching hookset with my 7’ 11” swimbait pole !

    Yeeee-haw !

    Feel the pain !

    Feel the steel ! : )

    (freshly landed phone pic shot)

2 more short tags for Mikey and it was off again to the next zone…

Spinning wheels in a few spots as the mud was getting slick….
My wiper blades need a-changin’ and it made the drive a little funky but we pressed on…

    Nothing there…off again….nothing..

Dayam Barometer seemed to have slowed things a bit (no real surprise)

    2 more spots…

    nothin’

    alright…getting late..

“Gonna have ta go after this spot Mikey” I state…I started feelin bad for him and hoped he’d pull one through….

He kept getting short bit as 3 strikes happened but no bendage !

As he was on one side of the duct…I was on the other side…

    And …

    HOOkUP ~

Drag peelin in the harsh current….

But again it was #1 owners sinking in… driven by my 65lb braid….

    Yes…it hits da’ deck….

Low pressure system foul weather hookup..
    (mud battered just for cut-bait-er)

A little amazed we could get anything to bite !

    Then….all of the sudden…

    I hear..

    “Hookup !”

    Mikey is on…he battles downstream..

I tell ‘em to be extra cautious as the mud near the side of the duct is extremely slippery..

I watch in the darkness as he tuna slides em’ up the long slope of the duct bank…

    AND….

    Success !

    Saweeet…

We fish it for another 15 min or so then headed home in the REAL THICK fog !

    Pea Soup !

I could see only maybe 15’ in front of the car on the freeway..

It was a tense drive…so it was a long ride home but at least we nailed some fish..

All nice n solid fish but the much larger units eluded us this time out

So all in all a great time : )
