Revenge is SWEET!

So I was skunked from the last outing....I had 3 strikes but wasn't able to get any of them to stick. These stripers are literally taking the 3 strike-rule too seriously resulted a SKUNK for me.
Anyway, hooked up with Khanh for another outing.
My mission: Get even with the stripey.
I had full support from Khanh with this mission
"You need to change out your lure for better hook-up ratio" he said.
Me: "It's OK, my lure's still in a good shape"
Khanh "No, REPLACE YOUR LURE" then he proceeded giving me a new KPN skinny Redhead shad - Thanks brotha!
Got to our first spot....
after about 3 minutes.....hook-up!!!!!!!! ahh sweet! There's no way I'm letting this one gets off.
my drag was screaming (reel probably needs to be lubed) at the get-go. I was thinking to myself "this could be my dream...my first double D". The fish started going with the strong current and pulled even harder.
"Oh, it's a PIG from hell" I said. Khanh had the net ready on hands but this sucker won't let up...at this point my arm was burning but I ain't giving up either now he made one last attempt to run upstream...my line went slacked..uh oh, I quickly rev it up and caught up to him and finally in the net. this was by far the best fight i ever had at the duct. since my memory's still fresh, this fish fought twice as hard as my 8lber from last week and surprisingly it's just a little bit bigger from my last fish (8 lbs 5oz on the digi-scale) also my new PB. Not a DD but I am not complaining.

we tried a couple more spots.....nothing.
4th spot....after a few casts..
on the sink....Thunk....! Line went slacked
"Did you snag my line Khanh" I asked
"No, my line's over here" he replied.
man, I should've set the hook. With the disappointed look on my face, i continued cranking and after 2 cranks....thunk....I immediately set the hook...it's on! after a short battle..fish landed
Not a big fish 5+ lbs.

We continued fishing hard but that was it.
None of us brought a camera so I had to take the pics on my phone.

Nice going Hai. BTW, I told you to replace your hooks on your last thread. A sharp hook is essential when they are smacking like they were that last trip. Well replacing the whole lure is fine too cause you get new sharp hooks

My post got cut off or I deleted my last sentence somehow. Anyway I said it was nice of Khanh to give you a new lure. Like I said, it's better than replacing hooks cause it's all new.

Yes, you're absolutely right! In fact if you look at the first pic, the fish was hooked from the outside.
