    How's this for a big salamander? This is why the Fish and Game outlawed waterdogs as bait. See what they can grow into! JK. This is a Giant Chinese Salamander. But it has been seen in some Northern California rivers and streams. Up to 6 ft long. He will eat your bass! Here boy...

    It lies there camouflaged amongst the bottom rocks and gravel with it's mouth open and grabs any fish, crawfish, insects, or whatever that gets close.

    I think you meant the Hellbender, which is an eastern species.

    We have the pacific giant salamander, looks like a slender salamander on steroids, and can deliver a painful bite.

    lol a 14/0 hook on straight 80 pound braid should be just fine. If it gets crazy when you try to put the hook through his lips just poke him in the eye with a sharp stick.
