    Default Castaic 08/13/10

Stopped at Castaic on the way home from work. I wanted to check out the shad and the boilings...The dam was wide open only couple of guys fishing... they said the bites were very slow... Saw a lots of shads closed to the shore but no boiling yet... maybe in a couple of weeks or soon.

    Shads chased my swimbait...

Soon they will chase shad and start to boil...
We need some steady high temps...

most likely largemouth bass fry. Shad always get lit up by a single largemouth at least.
There are alot of people that cannot tell the difference until the bait starts to ball.
Key thing that is different is when the shad swim and turn you can see that silver flash.
They also have a sort of dance to how they swim compared to a bass fry.
