Thread: Lake Mead 8/5/2010 Round 2!

  1. #1

Default Lake Mead 8/5/2010 Round 2!

As for my previous report on the lake, i got the skunk. So i wanted to get rid of the skunky smell off my back so we decided to go back. This time i didnt bring my tube. Primary target: Kitties. Secondary: Stripe Bass.

Yet again, it was another scorching day out

    Cat Food:

    Striper Gear:

    Homie on a nice bendo:

    Pulls out a nice kittie:

    And another smaller one:

I Switched over to a Yo Zuri Flashy Minnow because i saw lots of small bait balls and baby stripers boiling on them, but no luck:

Then i gave up on the lures and set up for kitties as well. Me on a bendo:

Heres my pussy cat of the day to shake off the skunk

And that was pretty much it. My cousin (big guy) got the skunk of the day. Can anyone tell me if i have the right lures for these stipers. Any info would help. Getting desperate to catch one now. Might go back this Saturday on the tube.

    Thanks for reading!

Read my reply on previous post for lure suggestion. The shad (white) lure you had should work well. If the stripers are on the top then this time of the year I would go with a Zara Puppy topwater bait in G fininsh, all white or silver. It should get better soon, this time of the year is usually real good but it's real early or real late and in the middle of the day if the fish are up they are normally in the main channels, deeper water, but still may boil all day long.

    You never know...

Carolina rig on the bait, 12 - 18" leader or so, since there not real huge I usually use 6lbs test but you can go higher, they aren't real line shy.
