Epic Bridgeport trip 7/17 - 7/24, pic heavy !
Another Epic summer trip up to the beautiful Bridgeport area in the eastern sierra mountains ! My girlfriend and I Stayed at our usual campground "Doc & Al's" right along the Robinson creek. Overall the fishing was great, put up lots of numbers, no huge ones this year...but had a great time none the less !
We fished twin lakes, robinson creek, the Rez, east walker river (upper & lower) Virgina lakes (Trumbull lake)
the baits that worked for us were Garlic powerbait, samon egg PB, rainbow PB, bubblegum pink power worms, inflated night crawlers. and thomas bouyant lure in red and gold.
and for fly fishing the usual nymphs and drys ! the broke back nymph was hot !!
the water levels were very high just about everywhere.
The highlight of the trip was going out on the bridgeport reservoir with Rey "mundo" Robles, (Owner and Guide) and Chad "Buck" Vancil, guide for Stay Bent Fishing
These guys are two of the most knowledgeable and fun guys you will ever meet in the bridgeport area !!! We were privileged enough to spend the day on Rey's 20ft boat, and go "still water nymphing" and regular bait fishing as well. These guys put us on at least 40 fish between my group of 4. Think we had a few double bendo's too. Only kept 4 fish to take home. What a fun day that was, Im really hooked on this new method of fly fishing, first time doing the still water thing ! very fun !! lost a couple of big boys tooI highly recommend looking these guys up if you want to get on some big fish, or just have a fun day catching a whole lot of them ! I Can't say enough good things about these two, they are top notch, class act !! They know all the secrets to getting you on tons of fish. Thanks again guys, so much fun !!!!
I can't wait to get back up there !!! a bad day of fishing sure beats a day at work.
