    Default AVET SX 6 4 2 speed

    Hey FNN,

Just got my hands on a used but in great condition AVET SX 2 speed. What is the best use for an AVET SX? Would Tuna be too heavy for this reel? Thoughts on the best use for an SX 2 speed?

    Thanks!

You can use it to fish just about anything in so cal waters. Like GD said spool with 50# spectra or my preference 65# spectra and then add a topshot of 20/25# mono and your good to go. You've got enough line on there and torque to fish everything from rockfish to tuna.

I've personally witnessed a 75# yellowfin taken with an SX 2 speed so yes it can handle just about anything in so cal.

I'm not this guy but I landed a few 60# - 70# yellowfin at Guadalupe Island last year on a SX 6/4 & Seeker SSD8 combo. 65# Spectra with a 3' piece of 35# fluoro. Not the ideal rig to use at this place due to line capacity, but the reel is more than capable otherwise.
