I have a pair of costa 580 (green mirror) and it's the best glasses i've ever had. I've heard good things about the protection you get from these glasses and they don't make you have headaches like my cheap $15 walmart glasses.

I have a pair of Maui Jims best glasses you can have. Most sport boat captains use them.

I wear Cocoons, but only because I wear prescription eyewear under them. They ran for $40 up at the Cabelas in Lacey, Washington. But theyre available down here at Bass Pro Shops, as well.

As far as clarity and glare reduction, they perform great!!!

Paid $65 for some Hoven Sunglasses(copper lens) at Sport Chalet. Had them for over a year now and they never gave me a problem(knock on wood) and work great for sight fishing those bass, gills, and trout in stained and clear waters.

BTW before that I used to buy those $8 Walmart fishing glasses which would only last about a week or two before falling apart. So yes, the price you pay for shades does make a difference.

While they are expensive I love my Oakleys. I remember paying full price for my original pair then I found some at an extremely reduced price so I purchased a few more for backup.

Let me share a secret with you, google Oakley Vault, its their factory outlet store. The down side, when they put up polarized shades they usually go fast so keep an eye on the site.

Does lense color make a big difference or is that just preference?

Thanks all for the great info.

I have several different tints myself but if I could only afford one pair, like has already been said, best all around color would be amber.

Copper lens works well too on lakes and streams.

Does anyone know where I can try on various Oakley glasses in the San Fernando Valley?

I particularly want to try on a Straight Jacket in Asian Fit.
