Woke up at noon after handling some overseas business all night. I hate working on the other side of the world's time. I was pretty stressed, so I decided to take the day off and do some striper fishing. Benefit of being self employed. I did not know if there was enough time to fish this late in the day. I said the heck with it and gave Castaic Lake a call to make sure it was OK to launch my boat. Lady said I was good to go, so I load up my tin boat, quick breakfast and off I went. After encountering some traffic I got the Upper Lake at 2. Got to my spot at around 2:30ish and started plucking away at the fish. The boat next to me was doing really well on the nicer models. I was releasing the few fish I was catching and got a call from pops to bring some fish for our rental tenants. Gotta keep my tenants happy, that is my mortgage money! so I hightailed it out of the area and took a long boat ride to place I know for sure had some fish. Got me a quick limit and by that time the lake was closing. Here are the stills:
The Lake Lice was in force today. Hate to see this place on the weekend.
Plucked off a few of these to start.
Got to the new area and instant bendo.
There were some decent size fish here.
Wait was 10 minutes between each bite. Not wide open by any means, but a good pick.
Action shot.
Death Trap.
They got going pretty good for about an hour. Here I am with one of the doubles.
More fish
Another one
End result
Parting shot. There used to be 5.
Hope you enjoyed the day at Castaic with me. Caught less than 15 fish this week, but with the short amount of time, that is still some pretty good striped bass fishing. See you next week.
