Bishop/June report

Day 1 -Wednesday--Fished Big Pine on the way up caught a few, but the streams flowing really, really hard. Also fished Bishop at line street and Hwy 6 cutoff and absolutley killed them, probably 25 each. Fished Rock Creek, again flowing really hard and super windy. Fished Rock Creek lake and killed them from shore with thomas buyont's and pumpkin jigs. Camped there for the night and it was freezing and windy as ****

Day2 Thursday-- June Lake all I can say is wind, tubed a while at Grant and Gull, probably 10 each..

Day 3 Friday--June Lake more friggin wind, tubed a few places and fished Rush Creek. The creek was totally fished out but still managed a few here and there. Windy all day

Day 4 Saturday--More friggin wind, tubed a while at Gull and then bailed to hit the river on the way home. Fished owens and gorge and managed 5 each.

This is the first time I've fished June in a long long time and to be honest I wasn't that impressed, way to "yuppie" for me. In addition no first come first serve camp spots that we could find, we were lucky to find the one we got in June Lake Campground..I prefer Bishop any day of the week

Grant was this calm for 2 hours max and then the wind kicked up.

At the Loop I use Oh! Ridge Campground or Silver Lake Campground. Oh! Ridge is usually bug-free, and the side road behind June and Gull Lakes avoids all the Yuppieville crapola in June Lake Village--which I share your distaste for. Some wind isn't necessarily bad--it gives the skeetos something to divide their attention away from being such airborne vampire units.

There's not nearly the Yuppie crowd in June Lake in the late spring through fall as there is during the winter skiing months. Personally, I love the town of June Lake in the summer. And swapping fish tales at The Tiger Bar is tradition.
