Default Lagoon - taking the neighbors out : )

My neighbors 10 year old daughter for weeks on in has been seeing my in the apt courtyard walking with poles and big stripers and she told me she “was tired of catching small bluegill” and she wanted to catch something big.

I was laughing at the zeal the little girl expressed for catching a big fish so I told her to tell her dad we’ll take them out to get some bass at the lagoon.

Last evening we rolled over there for about 2 ˝ hours…

I instructed Dad and Daughter how to “stitch” a nightcrawler and I dropshotted a robo..

    After about 30 minutes…

    Hookup !

    Zzzzzzz Zzzzzzzz !

The bass leaping out of the water..

Hooked on my dropshot rig, I immediately call Amber over and handed the pole off !

    Zzzz ZZzzzz zZZzzzz…

    SUPER Bendo !

as she battled a good solid 5 lbder !

She was straining as I aided her in reeling in this nice fatty…

The excitement was second to none as I watched this 10 year old girl battle her 1st LMB !

She fought it like a trooper and said her arm was getting tired and for us to take over !

I sad “NO this is what you came here for, YOU need to reel ‘em in !”

but I did assist her periodically !

After a lengthy battle, the bass neared the shore…..

He did another round of leaping drag pulls and about 10 foot out from shore he shook the hook and she lost it…

Bummer but what an epic battle !

She was shaking and trembling physically from all the excitement…

It was pretty comical to watch…what an experience it was for her
(that was a really nice bass !)
I wish I had a video camera to film that !

    After she recovered….
About 5 minutes later, she is stitching all by herself and:

    Hookup !

She stitched it up and hooked it all on her own too !…

After another bendo filled battle ensued and Amber LANDS her 1st bass

A really fine fat quality bass too I might add !

Soo cool to see this….Saweet success !!

Another 35 minutes pass and I stitch a bite up for her…

    Hookup !

I immediately hand it off to her..

    Even bigger than her 1st

Ahhhh man, it is so humbling to see that go down..

Another true angler is born !

This is what it’s all about folks !
Give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day…teach them to fish and they’re hooked for a lifetime !
    Look at that smile..

she wouldnt hold it...she was a bit scared, baby steps at first, she'll get accostomed to being around a bigger fish soon enough, I didn't want her to get tramatized : )

I'm telling you though, it was so cool to watch her, I guess you could say I saw life through a childs eyes again : )

    Gary,

It's good Amber mustered up the courage to ask you for help, but even greater that you shared your skill and experience to create an unforgettable memory in the life of a father and child. You rock!
