Tiniest Halibut & Crabs @ Cabrillo Pier

Hello FNN,

I took my nephew fishing at Cabrillo Pier. The fishing was slow, so I downsized to trout hooks and green peas and ended up accidently snagging this little Halibut. (safely released) We then put squid on Extra Big Hooks and challenged each other to see who could get the biggest Crab to the surface without the crab self releasing before getting to surface. My nephew won with this Crab. I had to buy him a Halibut and Shrimp Dinner from the Ports O' Call Fish Market. It was lots of fun!

You have created a "Smallest Halibut" IGFA record.
I would love to set up a SW aquarium and put that little butt in there.....That would be so KEWL (But Illegal).

Santa Fe, that is the smallest butt I've ever seen. LOL Poor guy hasn't even developed any teeth on him yet. Nice job on takin the nephew out.

I'm thinking about setting up a SW bass tank someday.

That is one small Hali looks like you found the bigger rock crabs good eats idk about the ones inside the harbor tho. Thanks for the post BIG E.
