Default Castaic Lake 4/19/10 WFO - Bigger Units are Chewing

Hello again. It is another week, so that means another Castaic Lake outing for me. With the front coming through Tuesday, I already knew the fishing was going to be excellent. This week my friend Ricky wanted to join me, so I let the bastard come with me. This has to be one of the epic trips out to Castaic Lake. Ricky and I found a bunch of bigger fish. It was WFO as soon as we anchored down. It bit great the whole time we were there. We definitely left them biting. Most of the fish got released, some of the bigger units went home with Ricky.

I also wanted to let you know, after seriously conferring with Ricky, we thought it would be best to photochop out this weeks background because of newer spot we are fishing. Ricky and I would like to keep this spot in our back pocket for a raining day. You may PM Ricky and tell him how much a ahole he is all you want. Here are the flashbacks in time:

I started the day with a schoolie. Instant bendo when I dropped down my bait. Fish was released.

Ricky played deckhand. He netted my back to back fish. This one was a larger unit.

Ricky gets on board with a schoolie. This one was also released.

This is how the fish finder looked. Some of the packs were hungry, some of them toyed with our baits, some of them just laughed us.

Ricky with a nice castaic unit.

Ricky with a Big time Bendo! Ricky ended up losing this one to the anchor.

This schoolie only had one eye. Gave him a second chance on life.

We had quite a few of these. Here is me with of the bigger units.

    Ricky fighting a bigger unit.

Not as big as we thought it would be, but a decent size one.

As soon as Ricky puts the lineside on board, his other rod loads up and he picks up another one about the same size.

    More schoolies.

See you when you gain 10 lbs.

Another schoolie that plagued me. This one needed some help before heading back down to the lakes' abyss.

Rocky definitely had the hotstick later on in the evening.

Comparing one of the fish to Ricky's size 11 shoe. Decent unit.

    Dental work.

The schoolies finally left us and we started putting in some large units.

Ricky's also got in on the action.

More large units came on board.

It was WFO on the guys. Here is one of my better fish.

    Jackpot of the day. Piggy.

Doubles. I am pretty sure you get the picture of how great the day was going.

We were about to leave and fish finder lights up again. Mann they were thick!

With a school that large, it is a guarantee bendo.

    Another good one.

    We slayed them. Epic Day.

Rickys take. That is going to be a lot of tacos. We caught about 40 something fish. I believe 10 were kept. The rest were released.

    Parting shot.

Thank you for fishing with me again. The water is up 2 degrees from last week. Hopefully we can pass the 60 degree mark and start seeing some surface action. See you all real soon.
