Default Castaic Lagoon 4/18 + 4/19 - Lots of Bass

    Sunday - 4/18
Yesterday I was able to hit the Lagoon and Robo Bass showed up a little later. I got in the water around 6:45 after talking to some guys that were going to go dive. I hit my first spot and then Robo Bass showed up about 15 minutes after I got to the spot. I fished it for a little while and got a little 14 oz bass to start the day off. I fished it some more and then got a nice 3 lb 14 oz bass! I love those 3+ lb bass! We continued to fish the spot some more for nothing and moved. I was drifting around and hooked up on another small bass weighting 14 oz again. I kept on drifting and hooked up on 2 more dinks. Robo Bass still hadn't caught a fish and was disappointed, but then he hooked up and reeled in a 1 lb 10 oz bass. A little bit later he set the hook and reeled in another fish, that was bigger, weighting 2 lb 4 oz. We continued to drift and work the same area and I set the hook on a 2 lber, but I couldn't see my line moving toward the surface to know to put my tip down and I was fishing shallow, so he didn't have to swim too far to get to the surface, so he jumped and popped off. I hadn't lost a bass on the jump in a long time and was disappointed. I make a couple more passes on my spot and hook up on another good fish and it weighted 3 lb 9 oz. I was excited for my second good size fish of the day. We continued to work the spot and Robo Bass caught a 1 lb 7 oz bass. Then I hook up on a bass a little while later and it was 1 lb 4 oz. Soon after, we move and work another spot and I set the hook on a 14 oz bass and then a second later, Robo Bass hooked up on a 1 lber! About 15 minutes later, we get another double, but I got the better end of the deal this time! Mine was 3 lb 11 oz, the second biggest fish of the day, and Robo's was a dink, haha! A few minutes later, Robo set the hook and fought the fish for a couple seconds, but then it came off. I work my way to shore and then Robo Bass hooked up right after I got out of the water! He reeled it in and it was 2 lb 5 oz, his biggest of the day. I left and walked back to my car after that. Robo continued to fish for a little bit more and was able to get 3 more fish! Two were about 1.5 lbs and the other was a dink. I wished I would have stayed a little bit longer, but it was a long walk back to my car. I didn't take pictures of all the fish because most of the time I don't like taking pictures of dinks, but I still do sometimes anyways, lol. Robo Bass wasn't able to take any pictures of his last 3 fish because I left and the fishing action was fast.

    Sunday's Totals:
Me - 9 bass including the 3 biggest
    Robo Bass - 9 bass

14 oz - He had a cool pattern on him

    Robo Bass - 1 lb 10 oz

    Robo Bass - 2 lb 4 oz

3 lb 14 oz - The biggest of the day

    14 oz

    3 lb 9 oz

    Robo Bass - 1 lb 7 oz

    1 lb 4 oz

Double hook up with my 14 oz bass and Robo's 1 lb bass

    3 lb 11 oz

Definitely a better double with my 3 lb 11 oz bass and Robo's dink!

Robo Bass's 2 lb 5 oz bass, but the picture was taken with his cellphone, so the quality is poor.

    Monday - 4/19
I hit the Lagoon today, again since it was so good yesterday, but with my dad and the boat this time and after school. It was pretty windy when we first got there which wasn't too nice. We hit the first spot and moved along with the trolling motor, but it was just too windy there and we didn't get any fish, so we decided to move. We anchored at this next spot and started casting and I got a 1 lb 2 oz bass right away. A little bit later, my dad hooked up on his first largemouth and it weighed 1 lb 0 oz! It wasn't big, but he was still excited to finally catch his first bass. I hooked up on 2 more bass at this spot, but they were only dinks. We moved again and I made a few casts then felt a nice tap and set the hook on a nice bass. It weighted 2 lb 13 oz, the biggest of the day. The cast right after that, I felt another tap and I was fixing my sunglasses, but I still was able to set the hook. I brought him in, but he was the smallest fish and was caught on the biggest Roboworm, lol. We didn't get to fish for that long today, but we still had a fun day.

    Monday's Totals
    Me - 5 bass
    My dad - 1 bass

    1 lb 2 oz

My dad's first largemouth weighing 1 lb 0 oz

    Dink

    2 lb 13 oz

    Dink!

Nice job fireball. We were going to go down there for some bass and crappie fishing, but we did not have a trolling motor. We scratched that plan and went to clean fish. See you out there one of these days.

Thanks. It is definitely worth getting a trolling motor to go down there.
