Thread: Duct, So Easy a Child Could Do It

Default Duct, So Easy a Child Could Do It

Got home a little early from work and out of the blue my son says he wants to go fishing. It's pretty windy out but I figure let's go for an hour or so and see if we can get some more of that wide open duct catfish bite.

We go to s spot close to home and on the first cast within a minute, he gets bit and the slack line straightens and runs. I help him set the hook but he battles it in. A nice channel and my son is super excited, as I am too. We release it and cast out again and work the bait. Within 5 minutes, tap, tap and the slack line comes running up flow. It hooked itself and my son brings this one in too. It is smaller but bleeding so we decide to keep it. I don't have my stringer because I left it with a guard yesterday that I gave 4 fish to so we just put it up in the dirt.

We work the section for awhile and nothing. The wind is picking up and getting harder to work the bait plus the flow is nowhere near wide open like past few days. We keep at it and get one more hook up and he lands it too. same size as the second one but not bleeding so we release it as well.

Great job putting your son on fish.

It's hard to believe that you haven't had him out there before.

    He's hooked now.

He's been out striper fishing at the duct with me a few times last summer but we never got on any fish. He kept asking me when we were going to hook a striper today and I chuckled. I wish they were as easy as the catfish, lol.
