Castaic upper today,4/6/10,,,,,,,,,TOUGH CONDITIOND,,,,,,STRIPERS!!!
Myself,CUTBAIT and my son took ourselves a little trip to castaic today to put my sone on some of those linesides.
Got there at opening time to tough conditiond,,,COLD WIND,,,,Wasnt that bad at the ramp but over towards the bouy line it was howling.
Started the day fighting the wind to stay in position ,,and to stay dry, IT WAS TOUGH!!
1st cpl hrs for nothing but we kept at it,,,,trying diferent things,,different depths,,different lures and bait.
Finally we figured out a depth to hold over,,,,bought 65 feet deep and fishing abought 25 to 35 feet down with fresh dines,,splitshoted with ultralight line,,4lb test ruled the day by far.
Lost a BUNCH of fish,,10 or 15 between the 3 of us,,,,probably mised 20 or 30 more outright,,,,
OOOWELLLL ,,,,,,,,,,HAD A BLAST WITH MY SON AND MY FRIEND
Before it was said ands done the wind had laid down, the sun came out and we SLAYD them stripes.
Gave quite a few away to 2 of my nabors when i got home,,,,They love fresh stripers, and kept the rest for myself and son to enjoy.
All were between barely2 and a healthy 4+ lbs
Heres a few pics of the days fun
Myself with the 1st 2 fish of the day cought back to back BY ME
My son with his first bendo of the day
His fish

bendo action,,,,,,,,,,,,these fish were a blast on the 4lb test
FINALLY after what seemed forever cutbait finally got into the action
Also met a new friend out there,,EAT SLEAP FISH aka ANDRE,,,,,
Heres a pic of the ones we kept for ourselves to eat
With my son MICHAEL doing the honors
Hope youall enjoy,d

Thanks a lot for sharing guys...I really enjoyd your post and the pics. Just to be on the water with my son is a blast for me...the fish is a bonus. Your son looks a bit waisted after all that action on the water, lol...I know the feeling. I'm new to this site but I like the people here. I'll be posting too, as soon as I catch something.

Nice catch! I'm glad to hear that they're still going.
They're a lot of fun on 4 lb. Aren't they?
My son is going with me in 1 1/2 weeks, I can't wait to get out there.

Good fishin with you guys...even though I didnt fare as well. Good times.
After you guys left, I tried anchoring up on the spot. Took a couple times for the anchor to hold but once it did, the fish were still there. I got picked up 4 times, but they wouldn't run with it long enough for me to set the hook. I was using 8 lb. test, that might have been the difference. They were hitting super light. Kind of like a nibble, just tasting it....I'll get revenge next time!! I'm gonna turn that lake RED with striper BLOOD!!!
Stay bent!
