Default Bad Boyz in San Quintin 4/2-4/5

Went down to San Quintin with some of the guys. It would be Juan(Cappo), Jason(Oz), David(Odium), Hariel(Hbomb), Robert(Murrieta Angler), and myself fishing with K&M Sportfishing aboard both his 25 Pilothouse and 23 Cuddy Parkers. Long story short...we had 10' swells 20kt winds. We made the best of it and had a blast. Still ended up with some quality feesh!

    DAY ONE

Met up with the guys and carpooled down to SQ. The drive down was pretty uneventful as usual. We did get stopped at one of the military inspections. They made a quick routine walk around the truck and checked under the seats. We arrived at the Old Mill around 2pm. Our original plan was to get unloaded and hit one of the beaches for some surf fishing but the wind wouldn’t allow. It was blowing pretty good so we just fished in front of the hotel for whatever wanted to bite.

I was the first to hookup on a nicer fish but it ended up taking me into the weeds...im guessing it was a decent sized bass. Oz hooked up a few mins later on this spottie.

    then on this one

It was pretty slow after that...i got a small perch off the pier.

We went back to the hotel and got ready for dinner. Drove down to Jardines but it was closed. Im guessing for Good Friday? We drove down hwy 1 and just about everything was closed. We stopped at the first restaurant that was open.

I had the Camarones a la Diabla.

We stopped at a small market to stock up on peanut butter and jelly for the next days fishing

    birotes

...so I pay and im walking out side and some drunk old man is stumbling in the door with a beer in his hand. He mumbles something and keeps walking in. He walks up to the guys and wants to shake everyones hand. We tried to ignore him but it looked like he was about to start trouble for the two ladies working at the store so I tapped him on the shoulder and told him to follow me outside. So now hes walking behind me staring me down thinking I want to fight him LMAO. We get outside and hes stumbling, spilling his beer, and still staring me down LOL. The guys finish up inside the store and we head back to the hotel. Later that afternoon we end up going to Don Eddies for some fresh steamed clams and some drinks...

    DAY TWO

Met up with Kelly at the ramp around 6am. The wind isn’t really blowing so im thinking were gonna have a great day on the water.

    Kelly has some nice boats

Hariel likes doing things the hard way LOL

Its looking like a nice day!

    Welcome to SQ!

Im glad we decided to fish with K&M and not on a regular panga. The reason being as soon as we got out of the bay we ran into some pretty big swells. They were mixed between 6-10'. I hope some of the other guys took some better pics of the conditions. This is what i got...

Cant even see the boat behind us LOL just the rods!

It didnt take long for me to start feeling nautious...lean over the rail and BARF. LOL my first time ever being sea sick.

Hariel was the next one to start chumming… We spent most of the day in the cuddy trying to sleep it off. I would feel better, step outside, wet my line for a few mins then go back in the cuddy. Robert didn’t feel sick at all and fished hard all day long.

He caught a nice Yellowtail so me and Hariel try for a bit…..go back to the cuddy.

We got some barracudas on the troll…

At this point in my head im already done for the day. Until...

“VICTOR!!! BOILS!” I jump out of the cuddy and I see birds all around. Nice! I grab my rod and we fish the spot for a while…no hits. All of a sudden we get some good marks on the bottom. “here they come guys!” . Robert gets the first HOOOOKUUUP! Then Hariel, Me, then our Captain Oscar. Quadruple hookup on Yellows! Hariel ended up with his first ever Yellowtail. This made up for the whole day of puking LOL. We called the other boat but the guys were already on their way in. We tried to find the school of yellows again but the disappeared....fished for a half hour or so more and headed in.

We still managed to get some nice fish for the day

We got to the ramp and David was waiting for us with his Yellowtail carcas LOL

    Posing for pics

    Fish Cleaning

OOPS how did that get in there? LOL

So after washing up at the hotel and kicking back for a while we drove to Jardines again to see if it was open.

You just cant beat the food and service at Jardines... Everyone is stuffed now and so tired from getting beat up on the water. It didnt take long to knock out.

    DAY THREE

Part of me wanted to tuck my tail between my legs and stay at the hotel when I walked out and saw it was still blowing. I had to get out there and try again. This time most of us took some dramamine.

The swells calmed down a little... today we had mostly 4-6 footers but the wind blew harder. Washing machine conditions.

Couldnt even get a good picture of David LOL

We headed to the 15 where we got our yellows the day before.... Worked the yoyo iron but no yellows to be found today.

I felt fine the whole day...I made up for the day before and slayed a bunch of reds n nice lings.

We fished hard until we started drifting way too fast. The current and wind were pushing us in the same direction. No good for fishing so we headed in a little early. You know its bad when theres whitecaps in the bay.

Our catch for the day... Still not bad for the conditions.

Once again back to the hotel...washed up...off to Jardines! but first we checked out the stands in front of the hotel.

More Jardines Food pr0n by request from Peter(Liteliner)

Got back to the hotel and knocked out again LOL u can see why...

    DAY FOUR

Woke up around 7am and loaded up the trucks. We had breakfast at Santa Isabel? i think was the name of the place. Good food... The drive back was uneventful as usual. Took a couple hours to get thru the border. We ended up having to go thru inspection. Grrr! I finally got home around 8pm after dropping the guys off.

Another great trip to SQ. Thanks again Kelly for everything! The guys all had a blast despite the weather. We still ended up with some fish in the coolers. Our captains Oscar and George were awesome. They did their best to keep us on the fish all day. Ill back in August/September for some more good times...

    Thanks for reading!

It was good fishing with all you guys. Too bad the weather just sucked. Fished all day the first day, with no yellow for me. Stupid seal got it. Had the boat all to myself since the other guys were knocked out. Second day was my turn at getting sick. Swells made it unfishable anyways. Felt so good to back on land, only to feel the earthquake. Food was real good but I think I got sick from something. Came home not feeling too well, and i'm still under the weather. Oh well, it was nice to get away anyways and hang with good friends. Border crossing was terrible.

Thanks Peter....ya i thought of you when i saw these whitefish come up LOL. I was reeling in a fish...then all of a sudden i feel a big thump and it gets real heavy and i feel some headshakes. Im thinking daaaam! LOL. Half way up my line got a lot lighter and i reeled in a 3lb whitefish with teeth marks on it. No doubt a big ling was holding on to it...

The quake didnt hit too hard where we were. I thought it was after effects from the boat ride....
