Default Castaic, April 3rd with KPN and Ron

I planned to hit Castaic with Ron first thing this morning and then meet Khahn at the Ramp around 1:00.

You know how plans work out sometimes. We never made it out in the morning.

So as thing worked out I wound up with a little time to apply some stickers to my windshield, take a look.

One great byproduct of this is that I actually cleaned the windshield.

We were able to meet Khahn and fish this afternoon and this evening.

We checked a few spots in the lake on the way to the honey hole. We saw a few fish on the finder but nothing to write home about.

Ron and I got bites right after we got there but didn't hook up. Khahn put a couple fish in the boat in short order and it seemed like we were going to be on a hot bite, but it didn't stay hot. The fish would come and go.

Here's Khahn with a couple of the fish he caught.

Ron and I hooked up a couple nice fish and lost then to one thing and another. Khahn was the hot stick, boating 5 fish. I managed a couple dinks.

    Here's a cooler shot.

At the end of the day I was fishing a sardine head on bottom and got some real light taps that I would have missed if Ron hadn't seen them. I changed heads when they quit messing with it.

It didn't take long to pick up this by-catch. Released, because they taste bad!

I tried a belly piece in the same spot and got a few light taps before I lost the bait. Then it was time to go.

Thanks guys for fishing with me today.

Looks like you guys did pretty good out there. That last one is a weird looking striper.

It's really good. Gorton's Fish Sticks used to be striper.

They sell it at Costco at times.

Getting it at the store doesn't do it justice because it's not handled as well as what you catch yourself.

Those green carp were actually stealing bait. I had a bunch of hits in that spot that weren't like striper or cats.

The fish were doing pretty good. Ron and I just weren't boating them.

There must be something about that spot. I've caught holdover trout on anchovies right there before. Maybe there's cover so they can hide from the big striper.
