Those are some nice slabs you got out of there. Wish I remembered to bring out my crappie gear as I saw a few by the tules. Even though the water temps were in the ball park, I don't think that the bass are bedding yet. The bass you saw were most likely the bucks just looking for a place to make a bed. If they were "locked in" on beds, they won't get spooked off so easily and if they do get spooked, they usually won't travel far and will return to their bed after a few minutes.
Only a couple were locked, like the one I caught. Lots of them were just getting ready though. I know a guy that caught both a male and a female off the same bed today and a couple other on beds too. The other guys I were fishing with were able to get one bed fish each, like I did.
I need to get to Castaic really soon jeez.
Yea they were mos def on the chew on the 20th. I missed at least 6 bites and landed one bass just shy of 4 pounds. Also missed two good crappie bites in the reeds. My head was not in it that day since i was more worried about sinking since i was pumping my tube every 10 to 15 minutes lol. That was the last trip for that tube until i get my new one. So i was the photographer for the day hahaha. But at least everyone in our group were catching fish all day long. Between the 5 of us there were 14 bass caught. Can't complain about that. I wish i could of caught a few more but it was great watching everyone have a great time. Also fireball congrats on slamming them crappie seems like you had a very good crappie slay. I gotta make this short and sweet since I'm a busy man today. But thanks to all of you that made it out on Saturday. I hope everyone had as much fun as we all did. I'll try to put a few of these on every year here. Maybe one day have our own small tube derby's and bbqs and raffles and the whole thing. But for now I'll settle for these meet ups so we can all get together in groups and just catch dem fish.

Rez also caught 2 but i was not near him since we split up once bassguy,socalbassman, and I moved to the spillways.

RayI met a bunch of people out there and it was awesome fishing too. You should definitely organize more of these events! A derby would be a cool thing too. I will check out the video and pictures when I get home.
Not much more to add to Rays post. Weather was great, slight breeze at times, with water temps varying between 58 and 63*. All fish caught in 8- 15' of water on dropshot, size of worm didn't appear to matter.
Had a great time fishing with guys I haven't seen in awhile, and nice meeting you newfishsmell. Rob, Ray, Daryl, and myself had a great time fishing the entire lake, talking and taking our time covering water. Ray, hope to see you in a new tube soon, need to hit the Lagoon again soon.
Rob congrats on the upcoming nuptials, good luck, hope to fish with you soon.

The weather was great out there and it was good to finally wet a line with you guys. We did get a little breeze going there towards the end of the day, but it was manageable. The water temps are right in the ballpark, and I'm sure that the Goon is set to go off soon. Sorry I didn't get a chance to chat with you Newfishsmell. I think I was too busy trying to get the ol' skunk smell off my back. Definitely have to do it again soon. Hope to see you in a new tube soon Ray Lo and thanks for being a great tube guide.

Thank. I guess I just have a deep voice, haha.
The weather was really nice, but I started to sweat and get real hot with my sweatshirt on, lol. I'm thinking that this weekend the Goon will be going off. It is already doing well right now.
