help!!!
so i just bought this 1983 bayliner 19ft... its has a 4 cylinder volvo penta motor with a 270 outdrive... i got it home got a battery and put it in... i try and start it and it doesnt make any noise.. the gauges move but the engine doesnt make a sound.. anyone have an idea of what it mite be!! thank you
If you can make sure you are getting voltage to the starter motor and that there is no evedince of corrosion on the battery cables leading to the starter.
did it run before you bought it. you did run it first right?
Bad starter ? Siezed motor ? Ignition switch ?
Did the guy flush it before storing ?
How long has it been sitting ?
Does it look like this ?
Does the motor turn over ?
Can you turn it by hand with the plugs out ?
Pull the spark plugs and check them could have rust in the chambers from sitting ?
Pour some ATF or Marvel Mystery Oil in the chambers and turn it by hand or with a big screwdriver on the flywheel 360 degrees then more oil till you can use the starter. With the chambers oiled it will foul the plugs right away.
