    Default Malibu therapy!

I've been understandbly going a little stir crazy lately and the last two days were the perfect time
to get out and start recon for the spring bite. Mother nature and poseidon have been working
hand in hand to re-shape all of my honey holes and MAN OHHHHHH MAN did they do a good job!
Time only allowed me two hours each day in the afternoon but I'm pleased with the results.
The weather was just perfect and the swells were flat and the water was clear for the most part.
Fished for two hours yeaterday (2 to 4pm) and the same today.
Hey Arthur.....You need an elevator and a bridge to get to Wingnut rock NOW my friend...LOL
Two to three feet of sand is now totally gone.

There used to be perfect little sandy coves here with a few boilers in the middle. Now all of the beach
    is quite simply gone!

    Perfect flat conditions.

    MMMMM....That boiler looks fishy!

Tossed my LC.....made a few cranks and fish on!!
Turned out to be a little checker to start off.

Moved to the other side and made another cast and got hit harder. Turned out to be a larger Cali going
    about 2 1/2 to 3 lbs.

So now I'm feeling good but I really wanted to stick a flattie. Fished for another 1 1/2 hours for nada
so I hit the canyon and went home. More than what I expected for a quick afternoon saltwater fix for sure.

Today I finished work at about 2pm again so I kept it even a little more local and hit my closest honey hole.
When I arrived there were the "Presidents Day" bucket brigaders out in full force. What did I expect on a
beautiful socal day at 2pm? So I moved about 20 yards to their left and on my 2nd cast with the LC I get hit.
Turned out to be a shortie about 17" or so but hey....I'm not complaning at all.

A few casts later I get hit again and I can tell this one is bigger for sure. Timed the water surge just right
and guided her into a crag where I boga gripped her. She went barely legal at 22" but now I'm very pleased at this point.

One of the bucket guys asked if he could have her but I simply told him that If he wanted one then he had to
catch it himself. I told him that she was a baby by my standards and she had alot of growing to do still. He just
smiled when I let her go!

So.....Not too bad for a few hours each day. Sure felt good to get some salt and sun in my face. The swell is
predicted to build over the next few days but The weather is warming up not to mention the first grunion runs
    are about a month away.

    Can't wait!

    XTRA'S

    Getting ready for spring...

The same swell that took all of my wonderful sandy spots away also breaks lifeguard rescue boards......OUCH!

    Cool Pirates in MDR......

New form of sunblock aka "The terrorist look" LOL..........Hey .....I recognize that BIGRED NOSE!

Tight Lines to all and I hope this inspires you all to get out and hit it hard this weekend!

You're killing me Mike! I've only been out there once since our New Year trip and you're just rubbing it in. lol
Here I am sitting in my office today and here comes a call from Bones on the caller ID. I say to myself, here comes another fish report... and I was right, so jealous buddy, so damn jealous. But like they say, business before pleasure my friend and my time will come soon enough. Between being so busy with work and bad timing with the conditions, I haven't been able to sneak out for even a recon mission, maybe next weekend. Glad to see that the Flatties are still somewhat active and the Calicos are always willing to play. Nice job on slinging the LC and getting some nice action in this great weather. Can't wait until I can join you out there... I feel a bit rusty right about now... don't get too far ahead of me in the legal hali count now okay...? lol

You made it out and you managed to catch a few fish..Well done Mike! Your right the grunion will be running in a few weeks. I have been trying to make it out but with all the bad weather (rain, wind, and big swell) that we have been having lately has kept me on the freshwater bass hunt. I can't wait to get back out on the sea. The terrorist gear might scare some of the beach side residents but I like it. You look like a fishing ninja. Hopefully we can all get together and fish sometime soon.
