    Default Park Tournament!

I think it would be fun to have a month or longer online type tournament for any so cal city parks or community lake ... online meaning submit your pictures (size proof with tape measure, weight proof if available, etc or anything else to make it valid) We could do trash fish like carp or catfish or anything...

I really have no experience in setting up anything like this but I think it would add a little incentive for each trip you get at the local park/ community lakes.

    any ideas or interests?

I'm sure many will be interested if you get the ball rolling on this event.

Tournaments are not too difficult to setup. Just come up with the rules, and a time line.

So are you gonna make this happen?

    I'd be down for it.

Suggestion: Use rules similiar to BountyFishing rules. They run an online tournament for cash, but they have really good rules to standardize fish photos and prevent cheating/photoshopping. (http://www.bountyfishing.com/enterprise/learnmore#3a)

    PARK TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS

If you are interested lets just keep this post going .. . .

Just add your catches as a quick reply type reponse on this same thread to keep things easy. We can do just bragging rights or we can try and muster up some sort of prize to the winners. Top 3 maybe?? (ideas: 1/2 day charter out of any landing, day pass to SARL, COrona, Irvine, Laguna NIguel, etc) Gear ? It all depends on who is willing to donate and who participates. Or we can just do some sort of Pot thing if that is legal??

    Run Date: 2/3/2010 thru 3/31/10.

Location: Any park lakes or community lake located within southern California ( LA county, Riverside County, Orange County)

    Regulations:
We are targeting Catfish, Carp, Bass or anything that is alive in Local Lakes and COmmunities

Provide location where you caught it , date, time, what you caught it on, etc.

    Follow these basic guidelines.

    5) FISH

    * Only your longest fish, per species is eligible for prizes. Should you wish to upgrade your catch it will replace any existing fish you have previously entered for that species.
    * You can enter multiple categories.
    * You are judged on the LENGTH of the fish and NOT the weight.
    * All fish must be caught alive using legal angling methods.
    * Anglers must abide by all state/provincial rules and regulations.
    * Absolutely no fish caught in fish hatchery waters, fish culture stations, "Fish & Pay" Lakes, private ponds or fishing preserves may be submitted. Furthermore, no fish captured using unconventional methods is eligible.
    * Fish showing signs of improper handling will be disqualified.
    * You may not submit the same fish more than once in any twelve (12) month period.

    6) MEASURING DEVICE
Only a valid ruler, tape measure or measuring board will be accepted by BountyFishing for measuring the length of the fish. This device must be displayed clearly in your photo of the “Fish with Ruler”. BountyFishing, at its sole discretion, will disqualify anyone suspected of using an inaccurate measuring device. Winners may be asked to submit the measuring device, used in the tournament, for verification.

Please Note: While not mandatory, the use of a rigid ruler or hard tape measure will produce a more accurate measurement.

    7) CAMERA SPECIFICATIONS AND SETTINGS

    Camera Specifications:

    * 4 Mega Pixel minimum.
    * No Cell phone cameras. No video cameras.

    Camera Settings

Most digital cameras have three important settings:

    * Resolution: File size must be set to the largest size.
    * File Type: Must be set to JPEG.
    * Quality: Must be set to High.

    In addition:

You, holding your catch (the live fish) horizontally, chest high and as close to your body as possible.
    * No image manipulation is allowed!

Your catch (the live fish) lying flat with a measuring device below the fish, clearly indicating the length of the fish

You, holding your catch (the live fish) horizontally, chest high and as close to your body as possible.

WE ARE GOING BY LENGTH ONLY AND NOT WEIGHT SINCE THERE CAN BE SUCH A DISCREPANCY WITH WEIGHT.

    SO WHO IS IN????

LETS DO THIS..... HAVE FUN ... TIGHT LINES...

MUST ABIDE BY ALL DFG RULES AND REGULATIONS AND PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE WHEN POSSIBLE !!
