Default Puddingstone Carp on the fly rod using corn

After hearing about Mike's Carp action on a fly rod I had to check this out myself.

I met up with Mike this morning and got a lesson on carp fishing with corn on the fly rod. After roll casting to check out the corn and hook configuration the bite was on. Mike got his first fish very quickly after i showed up ... THe fight was on and that fish gave that 8 wt a nice bow. After getting to shore the fish was netted and released cleanly. I got 3 bites but not fish on the line. Later Mike got that signal and FISH ON .. Powering that 8wt again the fish gave up after a good fight and some Backing Visuals ... The fish was released clean and weighed at 7.5 lbs. We estimated the first fish maybe around 7-9 lbs.

Great day and warm later ....

will RETURN SOON need to feel that on my 6wt

    Default Carp

That is strange, me and my buddy spent a day trying to get carp at puddingstone about 4 - 5 month ago, with not even a bite. We were using carp corn meal mix with no love.

Congratulations on that beautiful golden fish!!!

WHAT! Bait with a flyrod?! That's just not right! Tie up a "corn fly". Just kidding. Hey I have used crickets with my flyrods at Perris for big Bluegill. But you can get carp to take small wet flies and nymphs. It can be a lot of casting, but it can be done. Nice fish by the way.

i just looked up on FNG website .. and the following is stated

    4.00. Bait-General.
Legally acquired and possessed invertebrates, mollusks, crustaceans, amphibians (except salamanders), fish eggs and treated and processed foods may be used for bait, except:

the corn was canned and processed ..

if you find anything to the contrary let me know ... thanks
