6 foot swimbait rod??? never heard of one
get a 7'6 to 8' rod action depends on the kind of swimbait but preferablly fast and a heavy to ex. heavy power rating

It really depends on the baits you plan to throw. If you want to mainly toss baits like the Born Again Armageddon or Rago 11in tool, the rod is going to be very different than if you mainly toss Mattlures Ultimate Bluegills.

I'd go with ex-hvy power rating with either a fast or mod fast action in 7'11" minimum. You aren't going to find many factory swimbait sticks over 7'11" because BASS tournament regulations don't allow rods over 8'.

I've got a Phenix 7-11XH and the best thing about the XH is that I can toss any size bait I want. It's on the faster side of mod fast (like ex-mod-fast), so the hooks don't rip out on hard baits when a bass headshakes. But, it's still fast enough that I can slam the hooks home if a bass bites the Hudd far out. What's your price range? That'll be another main factor in deciding which rod to buy.

woops, I mean't 6" swimbait not 6' rod... Sorry about that.

I mainly looking to throw a 6" hudd but don't have a rod for it.

Price range is around $100-$200. I prefer shimano.

7'11" shimano crucial. i'd get the extra heavy one so you can throw hudds and bbz's too, but the heavy might work for smaller swimmies. weight of the bait is a bigger deal than its length.

At that price a Heavy Crucial 7'11" swimbait rod is your best bet. It'll toss pretty much everything except the 10in+ baits just fine. I'd recommend the XH if your primary bait was the 8in Hudd, but the 6in Hudd fishes much better on a lighter rod and your choice in the 6in Hudd indicates you are going to trend towards the smaller baits anyway. 6in Mattlures Bass (hard and soft), Mattlures Bluegills (hard and soft), Mattlures trout, the 6,7, and 8in Triple trouts, 3:16 Baby Wakes, 3:16 Boogers, 6in Hudds, are all baits that will catch big bass that the Heavy Crucial will handle perfectly. The Heavy will toss 8in hudds decently, but you'll want an XH if you plan to use 8in Hudds and the big hard baits frequently (stuff like 10in Triple Trouts or 3:16 Born Again Armageddons).

My swimmie rod is wrapped on a 7'10" Rainshadow blank. It's heavy power, mod fast action, light, responsive, and has the length to chuck those swimmies. This is what I like and I'm sure you can use this info to find a rod you like.

My favorite budget rod is the Okuma Swimmie Sticks. Barely $100 and pretty nice. Crucials are nice as well.

    awesome guys, love the information..

Also is it mandatory to have such a long rod? Would it just be mainly for casting distance or am I missing something here?

Time for an early xmas present!! haha...
