Friday the 13th..good day at SARL 11.13.09

whats up FNN, havent posted in a whilee due to lack of time on the water. now that trout season is startin to get into gear, its time to get back out there a little more! decided to fish SARL friday morning because my work schedule for the day prior and friday complimented enough time to fish and rest in between shifts.

woke up at around 5am, threw the gear in the truck and me and my friend michelle were off to the lake. given my first attempt at trout season 2009, her first time fishing, and actually getting on some fish, lets just say i felt the pressure on me!

got to the lake around 6 30 or so, lines in the water at 6:45 set up at chris' pond (Dr. Hooks spot) missed about 4 hits within the first hour or so..quick little boogers they threw in these lakes this year.. almost seems like bigbear trout. time to rebait so i reel in one of my lines and find this little guy hangin out after munchin down some rainbow powerbait

about 20 more mins go by and my baitrod starts doin the dance that everyone loves.. i tried to get michelle to reel in her first fish but she "didnt wanna mess it up" so unfortunately i pulled in the first trout of the trip.. a nice 2.5 or so rainbow..either a tailwalker or the new sierra bow they threw in there.

about 9am the bite started gettin a little regular. other baitrod goes off and i tel her she has no choice but to pull it in. i set the hook on it for her then handed it off and let her do her thing..

unfortunately i left my net in the truck when she got it to shore and i dropped it back in the drink before we got a chance to have a photo op.
watching the utter excitement on her face while reeling in her first fish made the trip. never seen someone jump up and down at a lake before friday..


bout an hour goes by and one of her poles starts dancin lightly. have michelle reel it in and she gets her first lunker LMB

inbetween bites was spent teaching knots, terminology, asking if she would wanna come again and getting a response of "hell ya!", and her talking about how "we got 2 hits on the garlic and nothin on the rainbow so we should switch it up" her talkin like that almost made me weak in the knees haha.

total count for the day were 4 rainbows ranging from about 1.5-3lbs with beautiful coloration on them, and 2 dink LMB. caught on rainbow and garlic PB, no love on the plastics this trip (dropshot or minijigs)

all in all i say i had a pretty decent first trout session of the season...great company, great weather, got on some fish, and got another person interested in the sport!
