Thread: Irvine opener at Corona

  1. #1

    Default Irvine opener at Corona

I'm sitting at the office thinking about taking the 6th off to tube Corona when I get a message from Poxy Boggards wanting to fish the Irvine opener. We thought better of it, anticipating huge lines and droves of fisherman.

We get to the lake just before 6 and were launching the boat by 6:20. I ask Wes where he wants to fish and he said "where else, lets try the G spot". We anchor up and Wes chucks out a piece of bait that immediately gets hit by a really nice catfish. After that, it was pretty much wide open for us. Around 10 or 11am we decide to try out the troll. We picked up a few trout and a couple crappie, but I'll warn you, there is so much to get hung up on; I think I ended up losing 4 lures to the ubiquitous submerged trees.

We limited out fairly early and called it a day with 10 fish at 25 lbs. The weather was perfect and the bite was hot. You can't ask for much more on a Friday.

Here's a pair of Wes' fish.

Do you guys call it the G Spot in honor of the gangster that first took you there?

    Nice haul.

Where have you been Ryan? Man, it's been a while! I thought about filing a missing persons report with the local authorities. It was a fun day out there. We should all get together on a pontoon again.

Wes, I smoked all those trout yesterday. I vacuum sealed them for our next adventure. The catfish you gave me was prettty damn tasty, thanks for giving up those fillets and cleaning the fish. You're the man!

    Congrats Daryl & Wes!
Looks like it was a fine day to be fishing!

The bite is starting to pick up just like I thought it would.

    Keep the reports coming!
