Thread: Exotic at the wall!

  1. #1

    Default Exotic at the wall!

Went out Saturday with a couple of buddies in my tin can. It was the usual wall action with calicos and sandbass on 3-4" swimbaits.
My friend Dave put on a piece of squid and this is what he ended up with.

    Trigger

Beautiful looking fish. Dave gave it a kiss and off it went.

Very interesting, but I wouldn't get my lips anywhere near that thing. Triggerfish crunch coral with whatever it is they call those things near the front of their heads. Teeth, beeks, ????????

Unhooking the sucker was no easy task. He had that beek firmly on the hook. If the pliers got close, he would snap at it.

My mistake, Parrotfish are the ones that crunch coral.

    Hi FarmerK,

Now there's a cute little guy!! Yes ... and snappy too! Japanese school children have a number of animals and fish they consider both 'cute' and having personalities. They think of these guys as being a comical and friendly fish!

    Default Triggerfish

I caught two triggerfish last summer in San Clemente. My Pacific Ocean Fish Guide says that Triggerfish are suppose to be good eating. That is a Triggerfish and not a Parrot fish but both do eat coral with their crazy looking mouths.
