Bako Duct - east meets west again - A Nuclear reaction !
Hit the duct with Cutbait, we were out to lay some steel (no pun intended !-ha ha ha).
We were seeking blood.
AND………………..
Bloooood is what we got !
We were on a quest…..a quest to screw up Mr stripey’s night.
Needless to say, we were not invited to their party that night.
Mike and I decided to crash the festivities.
After all, we had a special gift for each and every one of them……..
A steel treat…..
Driven right through the meat.
And flesh and bone of their jaw
Make ‘em BLEED !
…….That’s OUR Law !
With speed second to none
We drive those hooks deep and true till we’re done
Will the waters run red ?
NO we release them instead
And the slayin’s R’ good
When we’re in stripey’s hood !
When we’re done…
The fish know us well
Why ? you might ask
Cause we’ve given them hell !
Ohhhhhhhhh Yeahhhhh!
We arrived, we nervously awaited the 1st cast !
Conditions were good….I smelt blood in the air !
OR maybe Mike had Mexican for dinner, either way…something was in the air !
I made my 1st cast and I believe I got short struck but I was a little doubtfull !
Mike, on the other hand was more sure of his status and I looked over to see him land his 1st fish on about the 3rd cast !
Zzzzzzzzzzzz!
Strong sucka….fighting in the current !

I was workin away with no more strikes, Mike was nice enough to be the gentleman and coherse me into slinging into his zone.
I reluctantly agreed as I didn’t want to catch his potential fish….
(By the way Mike, I’ll have that 20 dollars for that spot for you on Friday !)
After about 3-5 casts, Mike and I were talking, he was looking right at me, he said my eyes bulged like Arnold Swartzenegger in the movie Total Recal as I drove the steel !
Hookup !
“Why is his bigger than mine !” (I know I’m gonna hear something bout that comment !)
Another round of casts followed by more and more….
Another short strike on my KPN Pearl Skinny shad but no hookup !
2 more casts and Mike looking right at me…..as he tries to tell me something..
Uoooohpfffff ! hookup !
It sticks…
Another fine feesh !
It slowed down so off to the next lair….we heard there may be a striper block party some miles away….and MAN….”WE LOVE TA PARTY !”
Next spot….we hear this “POP” OK….you sucka’s gave us a clue not only that the party is here but you gave us your # too !
About 7 casts into it !
Hookup !......I get hammered …..AND…
It hits the deck !
Ohhhhh Yeah !
I was secretly thinking …Oh boy….Mike’s got some catchin’ up ta do.
Little did I know what he had in store !
Next zone…..Mike gets DRILLED (again….no pun)
Hookup…..but it shakes off !
Next cast……Whoosh ! he gets hammered again ! no hookup
Wuhp Wuhm Wump Waaaaaa!
Shoot….thats some sick schtuff !
Next cast……
BENDO !....Bendo Deluxe !
Whooosh…..Ohhh Yeah !
Mike's on ! and he makes it stick this time !
Hard current drag peelin’ runs were the word for the night…
To the deck….Yeah Buddy !
As he tries to free his hook from the net….I slang the KPN again…..
hookup !...........right at my feet……he shakes off !.....Dayam !
2 more casts…..deeper zone !
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! I laid the KPN steel foundation good and solid this time..
DRAG PEELA’ in the swift current he went…
Man…this is what we live for !
To the net..
Yeaup !
Mike tears the boney flesh out of the stripers mouth with my new owner trebles that I gave him…….
ANOTHER Hookup !
If the fish could speak, I’m sure he’d say “this isn’t funny anymore guys….come ON …lay off !”
Mike tries a little different zone…
after about 5 minutes…
It’s Ooooooooooon !
Another fine feesh !
Damn…we were on a roll and tied up at this point (nice comeback Mike !)
Downstream we go to a different zone…
Mike wasn’t settlin for no tie at this point…
1st cast downstream !
Hookup and a huge bendo !
Nice long fight and a worthy adversary but Mike bested it in the end !
Uhhh Oh…..NOW…it’s MY turn to play catchup ! uh ohhhhh
Off to the next spot we go….we drive for a bit and anxiously await the next cast…
I get short bit on the 3rd cast…..Mike gets hooked up on about the same…
He battles it a bit but it comes unbuttoned !
Another 5 -8 casts…..
HOOKUP !
My turn this time and this will prove to be my final fish of the night…
Another nice Bako duct fishhee !
Mike’s not havin any of that catchin up schtuff..
He promptly hooked up within minutes to pull himself in the lead again !
(Sorry Mike, I was a little slow that night, I was fishing left handed and I am really right handed – heh he heh !)
The waters flowed red….and not a single fish dead !
To the deck….Mike lands it !
NOW, it’s getting late and I am determined to scratch 1 more out…I tell Mike I believe there is one there and I’m gonna catch it…
MIKE YOUR GONNA PAYYYYYYYY!
Mike steps right next to me…3’ away and says:
“I’ll catch ‘em for you !”
He casts…..works it 1-2’….
SLAM !
He’s on !.....Ohhhhhhh I’m gonna have to give payback…(just kidding guys !)
Man what a great job brotha, the only thing that could have made that scenario any better is if I would have said it to you and “I” caught the feesh !
Nice jailbird…..nice slayage !
So we ended the night with an epic bite under our belt….so much fun I think we were whistlin’ Dixie all the way home !
All fish were released for us to catch again next time (when I will flip those catch #’s on you Mike !) – ha ha ha ha
